I’ve spent the majority of my recruitment career in Tech recruitment, both in-house and working for a couple of agencies. Finding great candidates in talent-short markets is my bag, it’s what I do. It’s not just about throwing a few basic keywords into a boolean search and hoping for the best, we need to triangulate skills, sector experience, and the context surrounding those aspects that differentiate the good from the great.

Researching all of these things is critical to finding the right person for your business, if you’re in a startup you’ll be looking for something different from a blue-chip enterprise business business. Soft skills and experiences, work type, process vs autonomy and responsibility to work alone – specialised skills in a specific area vs. a broader exposure across a given discipline.
